Moths - The Brown China-mark

First seen on Wednesday 25th August 2021 at Cragside

The Brown China-mark moth is another example of interesting names moths are given. This family of moths all have brown and white patterns that are said to resemble the identification marks on the bases of Chinese porcelain. The China-mark moths are interesting, as its larvae are actually aquatic. This one was found beside Nelly Moss Lake. These moths have a very annoying (but understandable) habit of landing upside-down on the underside of leaves.
