Gulls - The Black-headed Gull

First seen on Sunday 7th January 2018 at Croome

The Black-headed Gull is another of the gulls that is seldom seen at Croome. They may gather on the fields when the farmer is ploughing, or more likely they will be just passing overhead like this one, which was with a handful of others. They are called black-headed gulls, as they have characteristic black heads, but only in the summer. In the winter, their colouring is much more subdued, with just a black spot behind the eye.
