Once common, the brown hare is sadly not an easy animal to see these days, and it's a real treat if you see one. Compared to a rabbit, they are bigger, more upright and generally sit with their long, black tipped ears upright - that's sometimes the only bit of a hare you see, sticking up above the grass, where they can usually be found. I spotted my first Hare in May, in the meadows along the ridge, just before the Park Seat. This one was in January (quite early in the year) splashing through a waterlogged field near the farm.
