Geese and Swans - The Canada Goose

First seen on Thursday 18th February 2016 at Croome

Canada Geese can regularly be seen on the lake and the river. Easily identified by their black head and neck, with a distinctive white chinstrap.

Some Canada Geese will raise a family at Croome.

As well as swimming on the water and sleeping on the banks, in the winter they gather in large numbers grazing on the meadows. When they are disturbed, they can often be seen in flight, sometimes in spectacular flocks.
