Moths - The Cocksfoot Moth

First seen on Monday 20th May 2019 at Croome

The big green thing in the photo is a lacewing - the subject I was photographing. The Cocksfoot Moth is the little brown moth on the left, which I didn't realise I was photographing! It is very small (3-4mm long) so easily overlooked. I thought the name may be from the pattern on the wing resembling a cockerel's foot, but it is actually named after the cock's foot grass which the larvae feed on. The moths are usually found on buttercups.
