Dippers, Dunnocks, Wrens and Starlings - The Dunnock

First seen on Wednesday 14th December 2016 at Croome

Not all that visible, you can find Dunnocks either rummaging around the ground under a bush, or on the branch of a tree singing at the top of its voice (a fast, but short chorus). Dunnocks resemble darkly coloured sparrows with a grey face, and are sometimes called hedge sparrows, although they are not of the same species (look at that very pointed beak - it's nothing like a sparrow's). In the spring and summer you can hear Dunnocks singing in the trees.
