Beetles - The Earwig

First seen on Tuesday 15th May 2018 at Croome

Earwigs always seemed very common when I was young, but I've only seen a couple at Croome. They are easily recognised by their tweezer like pincers. There are four species of Earwig, but this is the Common Earwig, and the one you are most likely to see. Earwigs eat vegetation, not ears, their name is just an old wives tale.
