Mammals - The Fox

First seen on Monday 22nd January 2018 at Croome

Although quite common in inner cities, foxes are nowhere near so easy to spot in the countryside - especially during daylight hours. When they are seen at Croome it is usually a fleeting glimpse, but you could see them just about anywhere, depending on the time of day. This one was walking in the meadows not far from the church. Foxes will normally see you well before you see them, but I was very lucky with this one and spotted him just a few seconds before he spotted me. Even then it was a further few seconds before he stopped looking at me and wandered off.

The one below was the first one I'd been able to take a photograph. It was crossing a path some distance away, and jumping over the dry stone wall to the south of the estate.
