The Green-veined White Butterfly is one of several 'White' butterflies. Although you can see veins in the wings, it is the underside pattern that gives this butterfly its name. If you look at the photograph on the purple flower, you can see the green shaded veins underneath are actually black on yellow.

The female has more black markings than the male, and the second brood of the year also has more black again. The first photo is the male, and the one below is a female. Both of these were found in the woods to the south of the estate.
