Moths - The Yellow-barred Long-horn Moth

First seen on Friday 9th June 2017 at Croome

Nemophora degeerella is a daytime flying moth is usually found in woodland paths and shaded areas. Like many moths it is quite tiny, only around a centimeter in length, however, the antennae can be several times the length of the wings, hence its name.

In May and June the males can often be seen in groups of around a dozen, 'dancing' in the sunshine. I have seen them doing this in the Church Shrubbery.
