Quite common in the shrubbery, or most places with flowers, this bumblebee has another apt name. It is all over black, with just a red tip to its tail. Note the large orange pollen baskets on its back legs. Pollen is taken back to the nest to feed the young.

The photo below shows the male Red-tailed Bumblebee. He is smaller than the female and has yellow fur around his shoulders and on his face.
