The Rook is one of the larger members of the Crow family, yet you are unlikely to see one at Croome. They nest in treetop colonies, so you would certainly expect to see them at Croome, but I only tend to see them passing through. These two were flying east to west from the ridge across the river. Rooks are similar in size and appearance to crows, apart from their beak and face, which can be very white, as you can see in these photos. The white face also makes their beak appear to be larger than it actually is.

I have subsequently seen a group land in the tall trees half-way along the river. The one below is in a plane tree.
