The Silver-Y moth is quite a common moth, although I've only just seen this one at Croome. It flies in the day-time and this one was found in the meadows, near the house. Although similar in size to a butterfly, it can easily be recognised as a moth by its rapid wing beat. The Silver-Y moth gets its name from the pale 'Y' shaped mark on its forewing. This one was seen in October - very late in the year.
