Although it has a large number of spots, the Sixteen-spot Ladybird is a native ladybird rather than a harlequin. It is quite tiny, just 2-3mm in length. it is dull yellow in colour, with eight spots either side. Interestingly, some of the outer spots are usually joined together. They are found in grassy areas (these were on a small piece of rotting bark in the grass). They feed on pollen, nectar and fungi. They are only found in the south and east of the country, so these are on the top edge of their distribution.
