I don't believe it's possible to visit Croome without seeing a squirrel. They are everywhere where there are trees (and there are a lot of trees at Croome). If you hear a rustling in the undergrowth or in a tree, it will probably be squirrel. Great fun to watch when they chase each other around a tree trunk or through the branches at great speed.

These are of course Grey Squirrels. Sadly, you are unlikely to see a Red Squirrel this far south.
