Pond Life - The Whirligig Beetle

First seen on Monday 11th June 2018 at Croome

The aptly named Whirligig Beetle is a very small (about 5mm) round beetle that can be seen zooming around in circles on the surface on the lake. It feeds on mosquito larvae. Interestingly it is there all year round, but dormant in the winter.
