Larks, Pipits and Wagtails - The Yellow Wagtail

First seen on Sunday 19th May 2019 at Croome

The Yellow Wagtail is surprisingly uncommon at Croome. They tend to be found near livestock, feeding off the insects the livestock attracts. As Croome has plenty of sheep and cattle I would have expected them to be more common. Having said that, then can be hidden in long grass, so not as easy to see as you'd expect given their incredibly bright yellow colour. Other than the colour they are similar in shape to the other wagtails. These photos were taken in the meadows by the river, near the cattle, when the wagtails had flown up on a distant post - a long way off, even for my 3000mm lens!
