Spiders - The Zilla Spider

First seen on Saturday 5th May 2018 at Croome

This tiny little spider is a member of the Orbweb family (like the Garden Spider) and has the latin name Zilla Diodia. It appears quite early in the year. The darker pink coloured one was found at the end of March, the other two were found in May, and had grown a little larger. They are just a few millimetres across, so not easy to see, although the webs are relatively large. They like shady spots in bushes, I found many of these webs around the lake, with the tiny spider sat in the middle of each.
