Moths - The Common Marbled Carpet

First seen on Friday 10th June 2022 at Gibside

This Common Marbled Carpet Moth was both illusive and difficult to photograph, plus difficult to identify. However, the light brown central patch on its wing is a good indicator. It is quite large, with a wingspan of 24-30mm. It is found in a variety of habitats and the larvae feed on a wide rage of plants. This one was found in the woods between the river and the stables.
