Beetles - The Golden-bloomed Longhorn Beetle

First seen on Thursday 27th May 2021 at Gibside

The Golden-bloomed Longhorn Beetle may sound a long name, but its latin name (Agapanthia villosoviridescens) is a real tongue-twister. Easily identified by its striped antenna, yellow and black thorax, and golden bristles on its elytra (wing case). They are quite large (2cm long) and they feed on Hogweed and Cow Parsley.
