Herons, Egrets, Cranes and Bitterns - The Grey Heron

You will see herons standing by the ponds or the river. You will also see herons standing in, and flying over the meadows. Sometimes you will see them in a tree, which may look odd, but of course they roost and nest in trees. A more normal view is shown below, when you see herons hunting. this one was slowly walking along a ditch, probably looking for voles.
