Pigeons and Pheasants - The Stock Dove

First seen on Wednesday 5th February 2020 at Gibside

Stock doves can be found flying around the parkland, and grazing in the surrounding fields. They can also be found under the feeders looking for some easy food! Although at first glance they look like feral pigeons, stock doves are subtly different. They are quite plain, other than a striking patch of iridescent green on the neck. They also have large black eyes, which look a lot 'kinder' than the feral pigeon's piercing pale eyes.
