Warblers, Crests and Flycatchers - The Red-breasted Flycatcher

First seen on Friday 21st October 2022 at Holy Island

This is a juvenile Red-breasted Flycatcher, and as such its plumage is a bit dull compared with the adult male, which has a red patch under its beak. It does however have characteristic white patches at the base of its tail, and this one was catching flies! It was found on the main street (Chare Ends) which runs from the car park through the village. This one was feeding up before moving on, having just arrived from Eastern Europe on easterly winds.
