Thrushes and Chats - The Redstart

First seen on Monday 23rd September 2024 at Holy Island

A male redstart is quite dramatic bird, with a black face, white head, grey wings, red chest and tail. Females and juveniles are much less dramatic, just having the red tail and flanks. The red in its name is actually more on an orange colour. This is a juvenile, but you can clearly see the red tail which gives it its name. This one was feeding around The Snook.
