Moths - The Silver-Y Moth

First seen on Wednesday 24th June 2020 at Holy Island

The Silver-Y moth is quite a common moth. It flies in the day-time and this one was found in the meadows, behind the castle. Although similar in size to a butterfly, it can easily be recognised as a moth by its rapid wing beat. The Silver-Y moth gets its name from the pale 'Y' shaped mark on its forewing.
