Marine Life - The Topknot

First seen on Tuesday 18th May 2021 at Holy Island

The Topknot is a flatfish - you can see its two eyes are on the same side. This is a very young Topknot, only a few centimetres long - they grow to be about 25cm. They are quite transparent at this age, well camouflaged and difficult to see until they move. They live in rocky ground, and can actually cling to the rocks, hiding underneath overhangs.
