Gulls - The Iceland Gull

First seen on Tuesday 8th April 2014 at the North-east Coast

The Iceland Gull is a rare winter visitor, mostly in the north of the UK, on the coast. It comes from Greenland and Arctic Canada. It is a medium sized gull similar in size to a Herring Gull. It is most distinctive as having no black feathers. It is similar to an Glaucous Gull, but smaller, with a slightly more friendly expression. This one was found in the Fish Quay at North Shields.
