Reptiles - The Common Lizard

First seen on Thursday 12th August 2021 at Druridge Pools

Despite its name, the Common Lizard is far from common, and getting less so. These photos are a group of hatchlings in a grassy bank. Adults occur in a range of colours, dull green, grey, brown etc. They are patterned with black and white flecks, with dark lines running down their back. These young hatchlings are born black, and fade to copper colour. The adult patterns are starting to show.
