The White-rumped Sandpiper is so called because is has a white patch at the top of its tail when flying (not shown here). It normally lives in North America, so it is a very rare visitor to our shores. They look very similar to a Dunlin (this one was with a flock of Dunlin). They look more "sleek", as they have long wings that extend beyond their tail. This one was on the pools at Druridge Bay.
