The Ring-necked Duck is very similar to a Tufted Duck, but the male has a grey shade on its white flank, plus distinctive striping on its bill. It is a rare visitor from North America.

The one below is a much better camouflaged female, but she still has the same striped bill. This one was seen at Durham Wildlife Trust Low Barns.
