At first glance, the Cackling Goose would be mistaken for a Canada Goose. However, if you see it next to other geese it is considerably smaller. Similar in size to the dainty Pink-footed Geese here, it would be dwarfed by a Canada Goose. Strictly speaking, the Canada Goose is called Greater Canada Goose. other than the smaller size, Cackling Geese have shorter bills and shorter necks. This one was in a field near Earsdon in Northumberland.
