Butterflies - The Green Hairstreak

First seen on Sunday 4th May 2014 at Rodborough Common

The Green Hairstreak, as its name suggests is a beautiful iridescent green. The hair streak refers to a white line that goes across its underwing. It is much more obvious in some of the other hairstreaks, but in the Green Hairstreak it is just a few white dots. They are quite small, and the upper-wing is dark green, so they are not very easy to spot when flying over grass. They fly in May and June.
