Mammals - The Bat

First seen on Friday 10th August 2012 at The Courts

Initially I couldn't work out what this bird was that I was watching flying in the sky over the barn at The Courts. It was mid afternoon and very bright, but this bird was fluttering like a bat! This was in 2012, and digital cameras were not so good then as they are now, but you can just see from these images that this was indeed a bat.

There were a lot of insects about that day, and it was obviously feeding. There are some bats that occasionally fly in daytime, Noctule and Pipistrelle are the most common, but the Noctule bat is much bigger, so this may have been the one I saw.
