Beetles - The Clay-coloured Weevil

First seen on Monday 16th August 2021 at Wallington

The Clay-coloured Weevil is simply named after its colour, unlike many weevils which are named after the plants they feed on. The Clay-coloured Weevil is about 8mm long and feeds on shrubs such as Rhododendrons and Raspberry bushes. The adults feed on buds and shoots, the larvae feed on the roots. This one was found near the Boathouse Pond, and there are quite a few wild raspberry bushes nearby.
