Dragonflies - The Four-spotted Chaser

First seen on Tuesday 15th June 2021 at Cragside

This dragonfly has quite a descriptive name, having four spots on each pair of wings (although that seems to add up to eight). They can be found in June and July basking on a branch like the ones in the photographs, or flying up and down over the water. They can be quite territorial, aggressively chasing off other dragonflies. These two were found near the Slipper Lake and along the "Nelly's Moss" lakes walk
