Finches and Buntings - The Corn Bunting

First seen on Thursday 9th February 2012 at RSPB Bempton Cliffs

Corn Buntings are becoming increasingly rare to see sadly. They are usually found on farmland. No distinguishing features other than the sloping forehead onto a thick bill. They often have a dark patch on their chest (as in this one). The main identification is in their distinctive call, which sounds like a bunch of keys being rattled. This one was in Worcestershire.
