The Semaphore Fly or Poecilobothrus nobilitatus is a metallic green fly. The male has a white spot on each wing and performs a courtship dance where the wings are raised and lowered, which is no doubt where it gets its name. The female is similar, but has no white spots. They live in damp places, especially near ponds.
