Herons, Egrets, Cranes and Bitterns of Croome

Great White Egret

Grey Heron

Little Egret

These are some of the largest birds you will see (apart from geese and swans). They are generally hunters, and will feed on insects, fish, amphibians, small birds and mammals.

Herons are resident all the year round at Croome, and even breed here. Cormorants are frequent visitors, especially in the winter, when you can see around half a dozen. The egrets are very occasional visitors.
