Birds of Prey of Croome

Buzzard

Hobby

Kestrel

Little Owl

Red Kite

Sparrowhawk

National Trust estates are usually good places to see Buzzards and Kestrels. Other species can be seen with a bit of luck, and can be seasonal, such as the Hobby which is a summer visitor and can sometimes be seen hunting over water. Owls may also be present, but are obviously much more difficult to see during the day.

With meadows full of wildlife (voles and mice), there are usually several birds of prey to be seen at Croome. Kestrels are resident and breed here, and several Buzzards also seem to be resident. The two paths to the Rotunda are often good places to see birds of prey, and the area to the south of the estate by the Park Seat is good for views of birds hunting, such as the hobby and kestrel.
