Waders of Holy Island

Waders are a very large family of birds. They feed on the scrapes at the edges of rivers and lakes. Most tend to be summer visitors, but others (such as Snipe) have their numbers swelled in the winter.

Lindisfarne is a great place to see waders. Look in the harbour bay, the Rocket Field, the shoreline to the south of the castle and the fields to the north of the castle.
