Larks, Pipits and Wagtails - The Tree Pipit

First seen on Friday 6th June 2025 at Threave Gardens

The Tree Pipit, as the name suggests is usually found in trees. It has a characteristic song flight, descending slowly down onto a branch of a tree. They are very similar to Meadow pipits, but paler and have finer streaks on their flanks. Not visible here, but they have normal length rear claws compared to the Meadow Pipit's very long rear claw.
