Both types of Demoiselles prefer flowing streams and rivers, but of course Croome's river has no flow at all (except when it is flooded in the winter). I was therefore surprised to fine them at Croome. Unlike the Beautiful Demoiselles which likes fast flowing rivers, this Banded Demoiselle prefers a slow flow. They are often seen near bridges, either around the lake or near the Chinese Bridge. Damselflies are quite a bit bigger than the other damselflies, and with the male's large dark spot on his wings they are easy to spot in flight.
