Waders - The Grey Plover

First seen on Monday 18th November 2019 at Holy Island

Grey Plovers and Golden Plovers are both common to see at Lindisfarne. Both are similar upright waders, with a relatively short beak. They differ mainly just in colour, although in summer plumage the Grey Plover is a lot more striking than the ones in this photo taken in the winter. They would normally be found on the shoreline, these were in the harbour bay, on the way to the castle.
