Waders - The Lapwing

First seen on Tuesday 3rd December 2019 at Holy Island

Lapwings are usually found grazing in wet grassy fields, this one was on the Rocket Field. When you see them nearby, you can see their iridescent green wings. In flight, Lapwings have a characteristic black and white pattern, with wings that widen out with rounded edges. Their call is a distinct "pee-wit" giving them their alternate name.
