The Ringed Plover is one of two similar members of the plover family. This one has an orange and black beak, whereas the Little Ringed Plover has a black beak and very distinct yellow rings around its eyes. The Little Ringed Plover is quite rare in Northumberland, so you are most likely to see this Ringed Plover. The first photo shows an adult, and the second is a juvenile, with softer colouring. Both were feeding in the harbour bay at low tide.
