Ducks, Grebes and Coots - The American Wigeon

First seen on Sunday 30th March 2025 at Druridge Pools

Wigeons are quite common and seen in good numbers at Drurige, but on rare occasions we may get an American Wigeon. They are similar (especially the females) but the males have a greenish head with broad dark green eye patch, plus a contrasting white crown. The other difference is the flanks are all-over cinnamon colour. You can compare the two males in the second photo.
