The Bullfinch is not a common bird, although they can be spotted now and again in the woodland areas around the main road through the reserve. The male is a bright orange-pink colour, and the female (below) is a more subtle beige colour. They both have sharply defined black faces. They love eating seeds and flower buds from trees. They have a low reedy whistle sound, that is reminiscent of a squeaky wheelbarrow being pushed along.
