Beetles - The Darkling Beetle

First seen on Sunday 11th July 2021 at Druridge Bay

The Darkling Beetle is a large family of beetles. This one is specifically Lagria hirta and has a dark brown body with black head. It has a distinctively bristly appearance. They are found in sandy soils, mainly in the south, but also in the north, in coastal areas. They feed on nectar and pollen.
