Hover-flies - Dasysyrphus Tricinctus

This hoverfly Dasysyrphus Tricinctus is also know as the Yellow-girdled Dasysyrphus Hoverfly. It can be readily identified but the distinctive pattern of yellow bands on its black abdomen - One broad, at the top, and the others very narrow. it is never seen in large numbers, and is usually found in coniferous woodland or heathland, so it was probably only passing through Druridge. They favour yellow flowers such as dandelions and buttercups.
