Pigeons and Pheasants - The Feral Pigeon

First seen on Sunday 30th August 2020 at Druridge Pools

Feral Pigeons are the ones you will see in and around town centres. They can have all sorts of colour variations, including areas of brown, or an overall dark grey colour. They are descendants of the Rock Dove, but you will only see wild Rock Doves in the north west of Scotland and Ireland, although the north-east coast will be more 'wild' than some. Rock Doves are similar to Stock Doves, but have two distinct shades of grey, and black stripes on their wings. The eye is different to both stock doves and wood pigeons - feral pigeons have orange eyes.
